Pavel Banya
The Pavel Banya balneological resort stands at 390 m altitude and lies in the magnificent Rose Valley. Its population is about 3100 people and is 21 km to the west of Kazanlak, 40 km to the east of Karlovo, 85 km northeast of Plovdiv and 185 km east of Sofia.
The remains of a Roman bath and an old Christian church testify that the water of the thermal springs has been used since Roman times.
Today Pavel Banya is a balneological resort. The mineral water springs out of 7 artificial wells with 50 - 61 degrees centigrade of temperature. It is clear and without colour and smell, with excellent gustatory properties. They have high fluorine concentration. Good results have been reported on the treatment of locomotory and peripheral nervous system diseases, etc.
Local people are mainly engaged in the production and processing of ethereal- oil bearing cultures.
Several hotels and a balneosanatorium have been built up in the health resort.
